Rainy Day Magic: Content Creation for Mitch and Jenna's Joyful Chicago Wedding

Updated: Aug 8

We had an absolute blast capturing Mitch and Jenna's wedding day on June 8 in Chicago. The couple didn't let a little rain stop them from having the best day with their family and friends! We were there for it all and had a blast doing content creation for them, capturing the best moments on iPhone, camcorder, and polaroid camera.

Mitch and Jenna were married at Saints Peter & Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Glenview. The ceremony was absolutely beautiful and so special. After the ceremony, guests filed out of the church and lined up outside for a fun exit. When Mitch and Jenna exited, everyone cheered and the couple kissed in front of the church. It was so sweet!

At that time, the plan was to take photos with the bridal party outside of the church and at a couple of other spots in the city. However, this is when the rain started! It was time for Plan B and everyone got on the party bus to head to the city. The rain wasn't helping with the traffic, and it took a while to get downtown. Their photographer pivoted again and decided to take bridal party photos on the rooftop of the reception venue, Morgan Manufacturing.

Once everyone arrived there, we headed to the rooftop for photos! Thankfully the rain had mostly stopped, except for the occasional sprinkle. Mitch and Jenna posed with their bridal party with a very moody city backdrop. It was so cool! Then they got some photos together and portraits of just Jenna. She looked stunning!

With all of the photos out of the way, the couple were free to mingle with guests. They entered their cocktail hour and began chatting away. It wasn't long before we were all being escorted into the reception space, and it blew everyone away! The high ceilings, hanging greenery, and colorful floral centerpieces were stunning. Lindsay with Liven it Up Events did such an amazing job decorating the space with Mitch and Jenna's ideas in mind, and she even incorporated the evil eye throughout, which was really important to Jenna.

Dinner consisted of fun food stations featuring Italian, Asian, and American chophouse dishes. Everyone raved about the food! Once everyone was eating, Mitch and Jenna spoke to their guests, thanking them for coming and sharing a bit about their relationship as well. It was very touching!

When the dance floor opened up, Mitch and Jenna's guests did not disappoint! They crowded in on the dance floor and enjoyed the live band. Hits like Mr. Brightside, I Want it That Way and Shout were some of the crowd favorites! During dancing, the dessert stations opened and it featured cookies, cakes and even mini shakes. For late night bites, they had french fries and cheeseburgers. No one went hungry or thirsty at this wedding!

Throughout the day, we enjoyed capturing behind the scenes moments on an iPhone and our handheld camcorder. From moments after the ceremony to posing on the rooftop, we got it all! There were so many fun moments on the dance floor and we enjoyed capturing people of all ages dancing away. We also took about 60 polaroid pictures throughout the day and compiled them into a book for Mitch and Jenna. Delivering that book to them the day after their wedding was so special for us. We absolutely love capturing moments for our couples, and watching them relive those moments is truly a gift. Mitch and Jenna also received a one minute recap video and all of their raw footage. We hope it's something they will cherish forever!
