Meet Allison and Charlie: Engagement, Wedding, and Legacy Film Videographers

Hi! We're Allison and Charlie Grant, the married duo behind ACG Productions. Yes, we're married and we work together. The NUMBER ONE question we get when people find that out is, "How do you do it!?" Well, we have so many similar interests and our skills compliment each other so well, it's hard to deny the great working team we make. Through lots of practice, good communication, and a division of expertise, we've found a great way to make it work.

So, how did we discover this magical working relationship? It all started at Loras College. We met in our freshman year in an Intro to TV class. We didn't start dating until our sophomore year, and that's when we started to work on class projects together. I was heavily involved with the student-run newscast called LCTV, Loras College Television, and I recruited Charlie to join. Together, we would shoot stories for the newscast and help each other out with other school projects. Our senior year, we worked on our capstone project together, creating a documentary that highlighted how the opioid epidemic affected people in Dubuque.

Once we graduated, I started a career in broadcast journalism at KCRG-TV9 News in Dubuque. Shortly after I started, a videographer position opened up and Charlie applied. No surprise to me, he got the job and we began our professional working relationship. It kept us busy, traveling all around Iowa shooting stories and delivering the news. Charlie was my videographer and editor, and I appeared LIVE on TV. We really enjoyed this job!

In 2018, we shot our first wedding film together. It was for friends (shout out to Megan and Kyle!) and we had so many emotions about doing this. It's such a big day for a couple - we didn't want to mess anything up! But at the same time, we were excited and we KNEW we would be good at it. After logging hundreds of hours of shooting and editing videos together, we were confident we could be trusted to capture such important moments.

That first wedding video is still one of my favorites. And it was a confirmation for us that we love capturing big life moments. Whether it be a wedding, an engagement, or a loved one's story, we believe that everyone deserves to have precious memories preserved. As we look to 2024, we're excited to have increased capacity to take on more weddings, engagements, Legacy Films, and more. We can't wait to meet and work with more of you in the next year!
