As wedding videographers and content creators, we are always up for traveling to shoot a wedding. In June of 2024, we had the opportunity to travel to BULGARIA for McKenna and Yoan's destination wedding as content creators. It was a truly magical weekend and we're so thankful we were there!
McKenna and Yoan hosted their wedding weekend at a villa near Sevlievo, Bulgaria. A small group of their family and friends stayed at the villa all weekend long and their wedding day started out really chill and relaxing. They enjoyed breakfast with their guests, worked on setting up decorations, and did some final rehearsing for the ceremony. They were wearing matching robes (which were in all of the guests rooms!). Guests were hanging out by the pool and soaking up the sun. It was so sweet!
Then it was time to get ready! McKenna and Yoan went their separate ways and planned to not see each other until she walked down the aisle. The anticipation started to build! Staying with the relaxing vibe, McKenna and her sister, mom and friends got ready together. Everyone did their own hair and makeup, helped steam McKenna's dress and veil, and just had a great time soaking up the time together while listening to music. We've truly never experienced a more relaxing atmosphere on a wedding day morning!
Since it was a small group of people staying at the villa, McKenna and Yoan both had time to take photos with everyone as they got ready and waited for the ceremony. It was really nice to see them have that special time with everyone. Once people started to arrive, Yoan began greeting guests. One thing we noticed right away -- guests were bringing bouquets of flowers for the bride and groom! We thought this was such a sweet tradition and we loved seeing it happen in real-time.
Guests were seated for the ceremony and McKenna's entrance was very special. She was emotional as her mom walked her down the aisle, and the guests applauded for them. You could feel the love and happiness! The ceremony was in Bulgarian, and McKenna practiced the lines she had to repeat in Bulgarian. During the ceremony, the couple opened a bottle of wine and drank from glasses, and at the end, they kicked a bucket of flowers, a tradition that will "predict the sex of their first child." It was a really fun tradition, and apparently, they're having a boy first!
After the ceremony, the celebrations really began! The couple greeted and took photos with all of their guests -- another perk of having a small wedding! They definitely had a lot of time with each person there. Guests were seated at tables outside for dinner, which consisted of many courses over 2-3 hours. Between courses, the couple played games, had a first dance, did the bouquet and garter toss, did some traditional Bulgarian dances, and talked with their guests, of course! The food was spectacular and everyone was having a great time. The sun was setting as open dancing began, and the party went well into the early morning hours!
Overall, this was such an amazing wedding to experience. We enjoyed capturing content for them throughout the day and creating some recap videos for them to look back on. They received all of the raw footage we took that day, both on iPhone and a camcorder, a book of Polaroid photos, and four recap videos. If you're looking for real, raw footage from your wedding day, a wedding day content creator might be the vendor for you! It's a great addition to your photo and video team, or it can be a nice substitute for a videographer if that's not something you prioritize.
